5 strategies to overcome wedding planning stress

1

Prioritise

Alright, first things first, let’s tackle that never-ending wedding to-do list! Start by figuring out what really matters to you and your partner, and doing that first.
Is it finding the perfect venue, choosing the right photographer, or nailing down the menu?

Once you’ve identified your priorities, don’t hesitate to delegate tasks. Trust me, you don’t have to do it all on your own!  Generally the bulk of the work falls the way of the bride-to-be, but you can enlist the help of your family, friends, or even consider hiring a wedding planner.

Sharing the load will not only ease your stress but also bring you closer to your loved ones during this exciting time.  Remember you aren’t just creating a wedding, but a marriage, the bringing together of two families, and a lifetime of memories!  Share the load – this shit is stressful!

3

Realistic Expectations

We all want our wedding day to be picture-perfect, sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns dancing through confetti showers… Right?

But let’s be honest, things don’t always go as planned.

And you know what?

That’s okay!

Instead of striving for perfection, embrace the imperfections. Understand that little hiccups may happen along the way, but they won’t define your entire wedding experience. Keep your eyes on the bigger picture – celebrating your love and commitment with the people who matter most.

Trust me, those genuine moments will overshadow any minor mishaps, and I know you won’t believe me – but I’m going to tell you anyway!  The biggest fails are the ones that will make you giggle and you will remember most fondly!

5

Self-Care and Relaxation

Amidst the whirlwind of wedding planning, don’t forget to take care of yourself! It’s crucial to carve out time for self-care and relaxation. Whether it’s going for a walk in nature, indulging in a bubble bath, or enjoying a night out with your friends, find activities that help you unwind and recharge.

Don’t feel guilty about taking breaks from wedding tasks. Remember, a happy and stress-free you will make the entire planning process much smoother.

2

Communicate Effectively

Communication is key! Make sure you and your partner are on the same page throughout the planning process. Discuss your ideas, concerns, and expectations openly. It’s also essential to maintain good communication with your wedding vendors. Clearly express your vision, ask questions, and address any worries you might have. By fostering clear and open communication, you can avoid misunderstandings and keep stress-inducing surprises at bay.  If you aren’t 100% sure about something – ask the question!  Trust me, all the wedding professionals I know are pretty friendly and great at communication.  That’s why they are in this industry in the first place.

4

Seek Support

You don’t have to face wedding planning stress alone. Reach out to your support system and lean on them when needed. Talk to your partner about any worries or anxieties you’re experiencing. Your loved ones are there to listen, offer advice, and provide emotional support.

And don’t forget, there’s a whole community of engaged couples out there going through similar experiences. Join online wedding forums or groups where you can connect with others who understand exactly what you’re going through. It’s amazing how sharing your journey with others can ease your stress and make you feel less alone.

Remember, wedding planning stress is temporary! It’s all leading up to the magical day when you and your partner say “I do.” So take a deep breath, implement these strategies, and enjoy the exciting journey that will lead you to your dream wedding. You’ve got this!
